The ceremony for the awarding of the trophies took place in a show in which humor prevailed, with outstanding personalities from the international cartoon and from the cultural life of Caldas da Rainha passing on the stage. The director of the salon, the Portuguese cartoonist António, pointed out that «since 2005, throughout 16 editions almost without interruption, the World Press Cartoon has been a meeting place for talent and an incentive to create quality in this field. He also stressed that he hopes that «the World Press Cartoon will contribute to give some encouragement to the authors in the harsh context of the serious crisis that the international press is going through.

This event provides, with each passing year, new arguments for editors so that this important content is not wiped from the pages of their newspapers.

» The Mayor of Caldas da Rainha, Fernando Tinta Ferreira, spoke in turn of the added value that the World Press Cartoon brings to the city: «The 2021 edition confirms Caldas da Rainha as the council of humor and caricature in Portugal. Bearing in mind previous editions, we are certain that the 2021 exhibition will be a national and international success».

In CARICATURA, the 1st prize was awarded to the Mexican Dario Castillejos, with the work Greta Thunberg; the second prize went to Juan Carlos II, by the Portuguese André Carrilho, and the third prize was awarded to the caricature Rainha Sofia de Espanha, by the Spaniard Ivan Mata Tamayo.
